Artist's Comments
Yes, I made this several months ago..
Read the actual legend, The Vampire Cat of Nabeshima, here: [link] and/or here: [link] Slide 2 is based on the story's 19th century Japanese woodblock print. I wasn't sure how to cite the source for slide 2 because I never learned the artist name, publication, etc. The image is published on the page of the latter link. Additional Web resources used, including for research on appropriate costumes (which become grossly simplified anyway) are cited on the bottom of the page. -"Ohayoo" actually means "Good Morning" -"What big ears you have" is a reference to the old "Little Red Riding Hood" story, in which a wolf in disguise is discovered by a girl's observation of his ears. -The statue of Buddha is based on the actual statue "Daibutsu" in Kamakura, Japan. [link] It does predate the Sengoku Era, but I included it without regard for historical, geographical, and logical accuracy. -The sky looks different on every slide. I was messing around with my limited number of colored pencils. -Obviously, I am too fond of bad puns. |
